The Contest

A special contest was done for the conference.

Since the contest submission time has passed, I can now share the deck below.

The Outcome

There were 8 submissions. One winner was a student! 🥰

And both were in person! (No virtual ticket holders even applied.) 😮

All consenting participants will receive 1 additional email follow up with information to support what they shared in their submission.

Because it pays to take initiative! It's you telling the universe you're ready to put in the work, & I wanted to honor that. 🙏

I also received lovely feedback on how to improve this contest, so thank you to those who shared. 🥰

Why Initiative Pays

A little data for my fellow number nerds ...

PyTexas 2026 had 229 people check in (an 83% in-person attend rate).

I currently don't know how many virtual attendees we had, and no one made a submission with that info.

So to keep it simple, assuming everyone is in the Discord server let's just keep the total number of eligible people to 229.

Of those 229, only 8 participated in the contest - or ~3-4% of the in-person attendees.

(And of those 8, 4 identified as students which makes 50% of the submissions... Or ~1.7% of the in person audience! 🎉)

Pretty good odds of winning, am I right? 😉
